CQ vs CEAS

Some of you may be wondering about the difference between a CQ (Certificate of Qualification) and a CEAS (Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing). Here's a little more information about the two.

CQ is:
  • Awarded to non-US citizens who have completed all of the requirements necessary to be a certified teacher.
  • Are not required to complete on-line HIB training.
  • Can not take the Praxis because you need a Social Security number in order to register for the Praxis.
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion from The College of New Jersey
  • Receive an official Certificate of Qualification signed by the State of New Jersey.
  • Does not qualify you to teach in the US.
CEAS is:
  • Awarded to US citizens who have completed all of the requirements necessary to be a certified teacher.
  • Are required to complete HIB training.
  • Must take Praxis exams.
  • Must complete EdTPA
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion from The College of New Jersey.
  • Receive and official Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing from the State of New Jersey.
  • Qualifies you to teach in the US.
